Shibalee’s primary research interests are political economics and development economics. Her current research aims at studying the presence and impact of political and economic inequalities, and the policies that aim at redressing such inequalities. Spatial econometric methods are used to assess the spatial impact of inequality and regional inequalities. She intends to obtain state and local level policy implications from her essays. Shibalee has experience in working in non-governmental research groups in India, where, among other things, she was involved in designing and conducting fieldwork, and in analyzing and offering policy suggestions. She also gained experience in working with both primary and secondary data. She plans to work for government or non-profit organizations. She expects to graduate in the Spring of 2010.
