Biographical Info

Larson teaches agribusiness marketing and researches domestic and international grain markets. A core research effort studies competitiveness and value-added effects of the U.S. grain marketing system in domestic and international markets. He recently edited a book on the organization and performance of the U.S. grain marketing system, and completed studies on the changing ownership and structure of the soybean processing industry and on the profitability and cash-flow risk of pre-harvest pricing strategies for Ohio corn and soybeans. Larson also studies agricultural marketing problems and rural financial markets in developing countries, recently finishing research on market integration in the four MERCOSUR countries, a study of instability in Indian grain production, and a study of savings behavior in rural households in Mozambique. Larson is a member of the department 's faculty participating in a Mexican agribusiness education project.
